First, if uric acid is high in the blood, is it gout? |
It is true that elevated uric acid increases gout. However, high uric acid does not necessarily mean that you have gout. The stages of ventilation are usually as follows: It is the stage of 'asymptomatic hyperuricemia' in which there is a lot of uric acid in the blood but there are no symptoms. If hyperuricemia persists for 5~10 years, 'acute gouty arthritis' will occur. Acute gouty arthritis usually affects the big toe and causes difficulty walking and great pain. However, this acute gouty arthritis gets better on its own within two weeks and goes away more quickly with medication. If left untreated, there will be a period of 'interparoxysmal gout' as an intermediate stage of a gout attack, and after a longer period of time, it will eventually become 'chronic nodular gout'.
As such, high uric acid does not lead directly to gout, and only those with gout arthritis symptoms need treatment even if uric acid is high. However, in rare cases, if the uric acid concentration is as high as 10~11, it should be treated even if it is not gout. |
Second, if the big toe joint hurts, is it gout?
Pain in the big toe joint is not 100% gout. There are many different conditions that can cause big toe pain, such as valgus valgus, rheumatoid arthritis, cellulitis, muscle or tendon problems, ankylosing spondylitis, and inflammation of the bones, so differential diagnosis is necessary.
Third, do gout sufferers have to be very strict about their diet?
Among the components of foods that make uric acid, purines can cause gout. When you eat a lot of foods that contain purines, nucleic acids break down and increase uric acid in the body. The normal uric acid concentration in the body is 7, but gout patients are about 8~9, so if you eat a purine-free diet, you can reduce the uric acid concentration by 1~1.5. However, all foods contain purines, making it virtually impossible to eat a diet without them. What's more, it's very hard to eat only vegetables and milk for the rest of your life. Rather than having a strict diet, you can simply take gout medication and control the uric acid level in your body.
