What is the secret to the abundant hair found in the brewery?
1. Improves skin condition
2. Improves irritable bowel syndrome symptoms
3. Improving blood glucose variables in patients with type 2 diabetes \
Hello. I'm a pharmacist Jinny.

Do you know about brewer's yeast that has been going viral lately when it comes to hair problems? It is said to be the secret of how the workers in the beer factories in Germany had their hair so abundant and shiny.

Brewer's yeast, which is obtained from the beer manufacturing process, contains more than 40% protein, including amino acids such as cystine, glutamate, arginine, and glycine, which make up hair. It also contains B vitamins and minerals such as zinc and selenium, making it an excellent source of protein for hair and a very balanced and healthy ingredient.

Therefore, today we will look at the various benefits of brewer's yeast through human application tests.
1. Improves skin condition
Have you ever experienced an ingredient that you thought was good for your skin only to turn out to be good for your hair, or vice versa? This is because more than 70% of the components of hair and skin are proteins. Therefore, supplementing with high-quality protein can help improve both hair and skin condition.

A STUDY PUBLISHED IN ANTI-AGING MEDICINE IN 2010 REPORTED THAT SACCHAROMYCES YEAST CONSUMPTION COULD HELP IMPROVE SKIN CONDITION [1].
"Physical symptoms, such as menstrual troubles, and skin symptoms, such as makeup breaking easily and dry, rough skin, were also significantly observed in the control group and improved in proportion to the dose. Skin analysis (SKI) showed increased moisture content, decreased erythema and increased elasticity, while PSI showed increased moisture and decreased pores."
2. Improves irritable bowel syndrome symptoms
Brewer's yeast is the dried yeast of the genus Saccharomyces that separates after the beer is filtered. Therefore, studies have been conducted on whether probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that play a beneficial role in the human body, can help improve various symptoms related to intestinal health.

A 2019 study was published in the Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research on whether brewer's yeast consumption can help improve symptoms in subjects with constipation-dominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C) [2].
"The within-group analysis showed a clinically significant reduction in abdominal pain, abdominal distention, and constipation symptoms in the brewer's yeast group compared to the placebo group after 20 days of study."
3. Improving blood glucose variables in patients with type 2 diabetes
Unlike type 1 diabetes, which is completely incapable of insulin production, type 2 diabetes is a disease that can produce insulin but is caused by increased insulin resistance. Increased insulin resistance is a condition in which the body does not respond properly to insulin, which puts glucose in the blood into the cells. The opposite of insulin resistance is insulin sensitivity, which is the degree to which your body reacts sensitively to insulin.

In 2013, the International Journal of Preventive Medicine published a study in which patients with type 2 diabetes were divided into brewer's yeast and placebo groups to determine if brewer's yeast had a beneficial effect on insulin receptors as a glucose tolerance factor in diabetics [3].
"During the study period, changes in FBS (fasting blood glucose), glycosylated hemoglobin, and insulin sensitivity showed significant differences between the two groups. After removing the influence of baseline values, the two groups had significant differences in fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and insulin sensitivity at the end of the study."
Today, we're looking at the health benefits of brewer's yeast through research. If you are a person who has difficulty supplementing proper nutrition due to irregular eating habits, it may be a good idea to give it a try.

I hope you have a healthy day in body and mind. It was Jinny.
