Effects of Elastin
1. Improves skin elasticity, wrinkles, and blood flow 2. Restrain breast sagging 3. Improves ligament function

Hello, I am Jinny, a pharmacist.
Until just a few years ago, when you think of ingredients that help your skin, you probably thought of only collagen.
As the skin-related benefits of elastin, the body's elastic protein,
are being widely studied, elastin is also gaining popularity. It is no exaggeration to say that it has now become one of the top 2 inner beauty ingredients along with collagen.
However, even if it is popular, or rather, the more popular it is, you should study the ingredients thoroughly. Therefore, today, we would like to summarize all the
representative and lesser-known benefits of elastin.
|
1. Improves Skin Elasticity, Wrinkles and Blood Flow
The biggest reason why elastin is loved is because consumers who have consumed elastin express high levels of satisfaction, saying that it
‘helped with skin elasticity.’
In fact, various studies view elastin as a functional skin beauty material and
report consistent results showing that oral intake of elastin has a positive effect on overall skin condition.
A 2015 study summarized that
skipjack tuna elastin hydrolyzate has beneficial effects on skin condition by activating skin fibroblasts,
reporting the following results:
|
“Our double-blind, placebo-controlled study demonstrated improvements in skin elasticity, wrinkles, blood flow, and subjective assessments of skin condition by consumption of elastin hydrolyzate.”

2. Restrain Breast Sagging
Like collagen, elastin's decomposition is accelerated with age. Therefore, we gradually feel that our skin is losing its elasticity. However, this sagging phenomenon does not only appear on the face.
Because elastin is also distributed in tissues called Cooper's ligaments, which maintain the shape of the breasts, women in particular notice changes in the shape of their breasts as they enter middle age or after dieting.
Regarding this, a 2016 paper studied
the effect of oral intake of elastin on breast sagging and reported the following:
|
"These results suggest that by taking elastin, there is a possibility that diet-induced breast drooping can be suppressed and breast height can be improved. From the breast skin elasticity measurement results, the recovery rate of breast skin elasticity in the 75 mg and 37.5 mg elastin groups was determined after 8 weeks of intake. “There was significant improvement, but there was no significant change in the placebo group.”

3. Improves Ligament Function
The effects of oral intake of elastin are not limited to skin elasticity. This is because
elastin is also distributed in many other tissues that require elasticity, such as the aortic wall and ligaments.
Therefore, various studies are accumulating regarding the effect of elastin on blood vessel and ligament function. A 2015 study in subjects with
knee joint pain reported that consuming elastin could relieve pain by improving ligament function.
|
"JKOM questionnaire results (Figure 3), "knee pain level" and "knee pain and stiffness", "state of daily life", and "usual activities" based on visual analogue scale (VAS). Knee pain scores Regarding the total (the higher the condition, the worse the condition), improvement was observed over time in the elastin group and the elastin+glucosamine group, and significant improvement was confirmed compared to the placebo group after 12 weeks.”

Today, we learned about elastin, which has become a powerhouse in inner beauty. Even if it is an ingredient that is already very famous, like elastin, or is highly recommended by acquaintances, I recommend that you research it at least once before trying it yourself.
I hope you have a healthy day both physically and mentally. This was Jinny.
