If you lack 'this', you will gain weight
1. Weight· Reduce BMI, waist and hip circumference and improve blood sugar control
2. Reduces blood triglyceride levels
3. Protects the heart

Hello. I'm a pharmacist Jinny.

Today, I'd like to introduce you to an ingredient called carnitine. Many of you may have heard of it for the first time. For those who are concerned about weight and body fat management, I think it is an ingredient that has a lot of appeal.

This is because carnitine helps break down fat. Carnitine, an amino acid, transports fatty acids to the mitochondria of cells, where they burn them to produce energy. In other words, a lack of carnitine in the body not only makes it difficult to produce energy, but also increases the risk of obesity due to the accumulation of fat.

Therefore, one of the forms of carnitine, 'L-carnitine tartrate', has been recognized for its ability to reduce body fat. Today, we're going to look at the benefits of oral intake of carnitine in a paper.

1. Weight· BM, waist and hip circumference reduction and blood sugar control improvement

The reason to watch out for obesity is probably not simply a craving for external beauty. Obesity is both a clinical symptom and a cause of various diseases. The more obese you are, the more susceptible you are to adult diseases such as diabetes and hyperlipidemia, and the higher your risk of cardiovascular disease and some cancers.

A 2016 STUDY WAS PUBLISHED IN CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGY THAT EXAMINED THE EFFECTS OF ORAL CARNITINE INTAKE ON OVERWEIGHT POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME PATIENTS.
"Overall, 12 weeks of carnitine in patients with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) showed a beneficial effect on blood sugar control and reductions in body weight, BMI (body mass index), WC (waist circumference), and HC (hip circumference)."
2. Reduces blood triglyceride levels
We consume triglycerides from food or synthesize them in the liver from carbohydrates and fatty acidsWhen blood triglyceride levels are elevated, it aids in the production of LDL cholesterol, the bad cholesterol, and promotes the breakdown of HDL cholesterol, the good cholesterol, which increases the risk of atherosclerosis. Above 500 mg/dL, the risk of acute pancreatitis may skyrocket. Therefore, it is necessary to improve diet and exercise, and if necessary, take medication to manage triglyceride levels.
In this regard, as early as 1998, a study was conducted that examined the effects of carnitine intake on lipid metabolism and body fat content.
"L-carnitine has been shown to have a significant effect on reducing the waist-to-hip ratio and the ratio of body fat. It also lowered plasma triglycerides."
3. Protects the heart

And that's not all. Carnitine has also been reported to have cardioprotective effects by reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and necrosis of heart muscle cells. Therefore, L-carnitine, a type of carnitine, is used as a drug for carnitine deficiency, angina pectoris, and myocardial disorders caused by heart diseases such as acute myocardial infarction.

A 2018 review paper reported the effect of L-carnitine administration on relevant factors of cardiovascular disease [3].
"Therefore, the administration of exogenous carnitine via the dietary and intravenous routes serves as an appropriate protective strategy against ventricular dysfunction, ischemic reperfusion injury, cardiac arrhythmias, and toxic myocardial injury that are markedly indicative of CVD (cardiovascular disease). In addition, carnitine reduces hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperglycemia, insulin-dependent diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, etc., which enhance cardiovascular pathologies."

Today, we've looked at the workings of carnitine and its benefits. In addition to the aforementioned benefits, various benefits have been reported, such as preventing muscle damage and improving fatigue and weakness. Therefore, if you want to try a healthy diet or have a day full of energy, I think it is an ingredient worth trying.

I hope you have a healthy day in body and mind. It was Jinny.
