Hello, I am Jinny, a pharmacist.

In South Korea, the life expectancy of women is approximately 86.5 years. Given that the menopausal age for women is typically in their 50s, women spend almost half of their lives in a postmenopausal state. This transition phase to menopause, known as perimenopause, can last for as long as 10 years. During this time, women may experience various physical and psychological changes that can be challenging.

Common menopausal symptoms include facial flushing, palpitations, sweating, fatigue, anxiety, depression, memory decline, sleep disturbances, and more. While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be used to alleviate these symptoms, some women may be unable to use HRT due to concerns about risks such as breast cancer, stroke, heart disease, and more.

Therefore, today, I would like to introduce a domestic menopausal women's health functional ingredient called Baeksuo extract and other complex extracts. Baeksuo extract is a compound mixture made by combining Baeksuo, Tang-kuei, and Hansokdan. This material has gained increasing attention, having received certification for ingredient safety from organizations including the U.S. FDA, Health Canada, and the European Food Safety Authority. Let's explore how Baeksuo extract and other complex extracts can benefit women's health during menopause without concerns about side effects related to female hormones.

1. Improves Menopausal Symptoms such as Sleep Disorders and Depression

One of the most common symptoms of menopause is insomnia. When estrogen secretion decreases, it leads to a reduction in the production of serotonin, a hormone in the brain that helps with deep sleep. This can make women more prone to experiencing insomnia and mood disturbances.

In relation to this, a study involving 64 women in perimenopause or postmenopause found that after 12 weeks of consuming Baeksuo extract and other complex extracts at 514.1mg/day, the menopausal symptoms, including insomnia, depression, and joint pain, were alleviated.

The results of a 12-week treatment with EstroG-100 showed significant improvements in various menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, sweating, sensory abnormalities, insomnia, nervousness, depression, dizziness, fatigue, rheumatic pain, and vaginal dryness when compared to the placebo group.

2. Improves Facial Flushing

If you're a woman going through menopause, you've likely experienced the embarrassment of facial flushing or redness at some point. Facial flushing is indeed one of the most common and recognizable symptoms of menopause.

According to a study published in the Journal of Food and Nutrition Research in 2018, the researchers found that Baeksuo complex extract had an effect on improving facial flushing by inhibiting the increase in skin temperature.

"We confirmed that CPAE (Baeksuo and complex extract) has an effect on improving facial flushing by suppressing the increase in tail skin temperature in mice."

3. Suppresses Symptoms Related to Degenerative Arthritis

Menopausal women are more vulnerable to arthritis. Estrogen is involved in the activity of chondrocytes, so when estrogen decreases, it weakens the cartilage and triggers inflammation in the synovium around the joints, increasing the risk of arthritis even more than in men.

It has been found through research that Baeksuo and complex extract can suppress arthritis symptoms. This study has reported a result that Baeksuo and complex extract increased the factors necessary for cartilage formation and decreased the factors inducing degenerative arthritis, effectively suppressing the symptoms of arthritis.

"This result confirms that CPAE (Baeksuo and other complex extracts) effectively suppresses inflammatory-induced osteoarthritis symptoms."

Today, we've explored the efficacy of Baeksuo and other complex extracts that can contribute to overall women's health during menopause. What makes these complex extracts particularly special is their safety profile, as they don't have the side effects associated with female hormones.

Most menopause health supplements contain a high amount of plant-based estrogens or some ingredients that mimic estrogen-like actions within the body. Therefore, women with pre-existing female conditions or those who are sensitive to estrogen should be cautious when taking such health supplements.

However, Baeksuo and other complex extracts do not bind to estrogen receptors, reducing the risk of triggering female conditions such as breast cancer[1]. In other words, these complex extracts are a safe menopause health ingredient that can be consumed by anyone.

I hope you have a healthy day both physically and mentally. This was Jinny.
