Hello, I am Jinny, a pharmacist.
Have you been worried that your hair is falling out a lot recently or that your parting or crown area looks a bit empty?
Generally, losing about 50-100 hairs a day is normal and not a cause for major concern. However, if more than 100 hairs fall out per day or if you notice significant hair loss in specific areas of your scalp, it could be an early sign of hair loss.
Hair loss itself does not pose a threat to your overall physical health.
However, the stress that hair loss can cause is significant enough to be associated with depression, according to research findings[1].

If you're one of those individuals dealing with hair loss or hair-related concerns, you should pay attention to the
"annurca apple."
The "Queen of Apples," as it is sometimes called, has gained attention in the scientific community for its
potential benefits related to hair health.
Various studies are being conducted on its potential to activate hair growth. In fact, in Europe, it is widely used in forms ranging from food products to cosmetic applications like functional shampoos.
Now, let's explore how annurca apples may contribute to promoting hair health, as revealed through research.

1. Increases Hair Density
Normally, hair loss begins with gradual thinning of the hair. Often, people don't perceive any significant changes until their hair density starts to decrease.
Additionally, as people age, it's common for hair density to naturally decrease, even if it's not related to hair loss. Consequently, as individuals enter middle age, they may start to notice their hair thinning and might resort to treatments like perms or wearing hats when going out.
Annurca apples have been found
to help increase hair density based on test tube experiments and localized application tests[2].
The reason for this effect can be attributed to a type of polyphenol called
"procyanidin B2,"
which is found in Annurca apples.

In fact, the increase in hair density was confirmed when Annurca apple extract was ingested. According to a human clinical trial conducted in 2017,
where 250 participants were given 400mg/day of Annurca apple extract for 30 days, both the group consuming the Annurca apple extract and the group consuming Annurca apple extract with added zinc and selenium experienced an increase in hair density.

2. Increases Hair Keratin Content
For hair to grow, it requires various nutrients, and among them, protein plays an essential role.
The protein known as 'keratin' accounts for over 90% of hair composition.
This keratin helps maintain the strength and healing of our skin, hair, and nails. In the previous study, it was also
confirmed that the group consuming annurca apple extract showed an increase of as much as 35% in hair keratin content.
|
It indicates that the hair keratin content increased by approximately 35% more in the treatment group than in the control group.

3. Improves Hair Loss Due to Cancer Treatment
The causes of hair loss are very diverse and can include genetic factors, stress, hormonal imbalances, and even side effects of certain medications. In fact, hair loss due to the side effects of specific drugs is quite common.
Hair loss as a side effect of cancer treatment can significantly impact the social activities of cancer patients and may lead to anxiety and depression.
Therefore, the medical community has been making efforts to find ways to minimize hair loss caused by cancer treatment.
According to the results of an animal study,
annurca apple extract is estimated to provide some help in cases of hair loss due to cancer treatment. When annurca apple extract at a dose of 400mg/L AAE was administered to mice for 4 weeks, it efficiently preserved keratin production and reduced hair follicle” nutritional deficiencies.

Today, we have explored the hair-related benefits of Annurca apples through research. However, Annurca apples offer more than just hair-related advantages.
As mentioned earlier, Annurca apples contain a substantial amount of a polyphenol component known as 'Procyanidin B2.' Research has shown that Annurca apples, rich in Procyanidin B2,
can assist in the accumulation of HaCaT cells, which play a crucial role in skin immune responses [3].

These Annurca apples, being a naturally sourced ingredient, are generally known to
have minimal side effects on the human body. However, excessive consumption may lead to digestive discomfort, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Although rare, some individuals may experience allergic reactions. If you have a
history of allergies, it is advisable to consult a specialist before consumption.
I hope you have a healthy day both physically and mentally. This was Jinny.
