Babies born by cesarean section are more likely to become overweight
The University of Alberta in Canada conducted a study of 935 mothers and babies and found that babies born by cesarean section are more likely to be overweight than babies born by vaginal delivery.
In general, it is a well-known fact that if the mother is obese, the baby is also likely to do the same. However, the researchers noted that even for the same overweight mother, the odds of a baby born being overweight three years later in vaginal birth were three times higher than that of a baby born to a normal-weight mother, while the risk of birth by cesarean section increased by nearly five times.
Why babies born by cesarean section are more likely to become overweight

The reason for this difference is the baby's gut bacteria. Babies born by cesarean section to overweight mothers have a higher number of bacteria called Lachnospiraceae in their intestines than babies born by vaginal birth. Breastfeeding and antibiotic use, all other variables that may affect gut bacteria, are adjusted for and taken into account.
*Lacnospirace: A bacterial bacterium that breaks down plant polysaccharides into fatty acids and ethanol.
So why did the cesarean section cause changes in the baby's gut bacteria? Experts hypothesize that in the case of a cesarean section in which the mother cuts through the belly, the baby loses the opportunity to come into contact with the lactobacillus normally present in the mucous membrane of the mother's vagina.
Babies born through vaginal delivery take lactic acid bacteria through their mouths when they pass through the vagina. These lactobacillus go down to the baby's large intestine and become engrafted with intestinal bacteria for the first time in their lives. Since a woman's vagina is acidic, only lactobacillus and bifidus, which are beneficial to the body, survive, and most of the harmful bacteria disappear.
In this way, natural childbirth is the process of sowing seeds in the baby's gut bacterial ecosystem. According to Professor Rob Knight, a professor of pediatrics at the University of San Diego School of Medicine in the United States, a renowned expert on intestinal bacteria, when his wife gave birth to her daughter by cesarean section, he ran into the delivery room and scraped the secretions from his wife's vagina with a cotton swab, deliberately smearing them on the skin and mucous membranes of his daughter's mouth and ears.
One reason why natural childbirth is recommended over cesarean section
It's still unclear whether the bacterium Laknos Pyrrhage is really what causes babies to get fat after 3 years. It is not a proven fact that probiotics should be given as a nutritional supplement to prevent obesity in babies born by cesarean section. However, for the health of the baby, it is important to note that this study has added one more reason why natural childbirth is recommended rather than a cesarean section if possible. In addition to allergies, diabetes, heart disease, and other diseases, natural childbirth is recommended if possible for the proper weight of the baby.
