From the age of 50, get a cerebrovascular health checkup

Around 50s

It is recommended to start cerebrovascular health checkups around the age of 50. This is because the age of 50 is not a time when major degenerative changes are observed, but children are often minors who are not yet financially independent. If you have not had a test before, we recommend that you have a cerebrovascular examination at least once for your family.

CT angiography is usually recommended first. If you have a contrast allergy, kidney disease, or are concerned about radiation, you should get an MRA test instead.

Around 60s

If you have no abnormalities around your 50s, you can have a cerebrovascular health checkup after your 60s. You can also choose between CT angiography, which allows you to get an accurate vascular examination, and MRA test, which can observe degenerative changes. If there are no major abnormalities in the results, it is recommended that you have an examination every 5 years from now on.

In particular, people who have been diagnosed with cerebrovascular disease in the past or have a history of treatment should be examined periodically as aneurysms may recur.

What if you are in your 30s~40s?

For other young adults in their 30s~40s, cerebrovascular health checkups are not essential, but if there is a patient with a cerebral aneurysm or cerebral hemorrhage in the family, it is safe to get tested.
