3 reasons hemp seed oil is a health food

Hemp seed oil efficacy
1. Omega 3 - Reduces triglycerides
2. Gamma Linolenic Acid - Improves inflammation
3. Arginine - Improves vascular endothelial function

This is Jinny, the pharmacist.

Recently, hemp seed oil is gaining popularity as a health food. Usually, when you think of hemp, you think of drugs, so many people may wonder how hemp seed oil can be a health food. However, the hemp strain called 'hemp' used in hemp seed oil is very low in psychedelic component (THC).

In particular, hemp seeds, that is, hemp seeds, are rich in various nutrients such as omega 3, omega 6, and arginine . Therefore, hemp seed oil is the oil extracted from the husk of hemp seeds containing THC to obtain concentrated nutrients. So today, I will introduce the benefits of omega 3, gamma linolenic acid, and arginine, which are representative nutrients contained in hemp seed oil, along with a thesis.

1. Omega 3 - Reduces triglycerides

Hemp seed oil contains about 22% of Omega 3 Omega 3 is known to have the effect of lowering triglyceride levels by inhibiting the synthesis of triglycerides and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) in the liver .

A paper published in the Eastern Mediterranean Health Journal in 2008 reported results that fasting triglyceride levels were reduced when omega-3 was consumed .

“ Fasting triglycerides were significantly reduced in the supplement (omega-3) intake group compared to placebo. ”

2. Gamma Linolenic Acid - Improves Inflammation

Inflammation itself is one of the body's normal healing processes, but if the inflammatory response becomes excessive or chronic, it can adversely affect normal tissues and destroy them. An example of a chronic inflammatory disease is rheumatoid arthritis, in which cartilage and bone are damaged and pain is caused by a chronic inflammatory response of the joint synovium.

Therefore, controlling inflammation well is a very important task. Gamma linolenic acid contained in hemp seed oil is known to have strong anti-inflammatory activity in the body . Let's look at the anti-inflammatory effect of gamma-linolenic acid through a study published in Inflammation in 2010.

" Our data suggest that gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) inhibits oxidative stress and signaling pathways of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and c-Jun kinase (JNK) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 267.4 macrophages. This suggests that inflammatory responses are inhibited through inactivation of nuclear factor kappabi (NF-κB) and activating protein-1 (AP-1). ”

3. Arginine – Improves vascular endothelial function

The vascular endothelium serves to selectively permeate substances and regulates blood flow and coagulation. Nitric oxide synthase exists in vascular endothelial cells, and when it combines with arginine in hemp seed oil, nitric oxide is produced. Nitric oxide dilates blood vessels to facilitate the supply of blood flow and contributes to maintaining homeostasis of blood vessels .

In 2003, Vascular medicine published a paper that studied the relationship between arginine intake and vascular endothelial function.

“L -arginine significantly improved flow-mediated dilatation (FMD, dilation of arteries when blood flow increases), whereas placebo had no effect. (omitted) We find that endothelial function is impaired in healthy old age and it is L-arginine/asymmetry. We conclude that normalization of the dimethyl L-arginine (ADMA) ratio can be ameliorated by oral L-arginine supplementation. ”

Today, through the thesis, we looked at the benefits of consuming the ingredients contained in hemp seed oil. Hemp seeds contain so many nutrients that the Times introduced them as one of the six superfood seeds . It can cause abdominal pain, so be careful.

I hope you have a healthy day in body and mind. It was Jinny.
