In two meta-analyses (J Intern Med 2007, Arch Intern med 2007), 100 mg magnesium supplementation per day reduced the incidence of type 2 diabetes by 15-23%. However, these findings are all observational studies with low causal proof values. Randomized clinical studies are needed, but there are still few research results targeting magnesium.
