Boulardii's Efficacy
1. Inhibition of growth of harmful bacteria 2. Anti-Candida bacteria 3. Anti-inflammatory
Hello. A pharmacist who reads a dissertation.
I think many people are basically consuming lactic acid bacteria.
However, there are quite a few people who feel uncomfortable because they eat lactic acid bacteria and do not feel any effect, or have gas or constipation in their stomach . This is because each person has a different balance of intestinal flora.
Today, I would like to introduce several benefits of Saccharomyces boulardii (hereafter bouladi) , a yeast that creates an intestinal environment where lactic acid bacteria can settle well for these people .
1. Inhibit the proliferation of harmful bacteria
Unlike lactic acid bacteria, which belong to bacteria, bowllady is a yeast, so it has the characteristic of surviving in external environments such as high temperature, stomach acid, and bile acid . Therefore, most of the bouladi we ingested reach the intestines alive.
Due to these properties of Bowladi, studies on the complementary action with lactic acid bacteria are accumulating. In particular, the interest of the academic community is continuously accumulating due to the characteristics of Bowladi , which survives in environments where the survival of beneficial bacteria in the body is difficult, such as taking antibiotics for a long period of time.
In March 2021, Front Public Health reported that when lactobacilli and bouladi were taken together, it was possible to suppress the growth of harmful bacteria caused by antibiotic prescription .
“ Combined intake of certain strains of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium and Saccharomyces boulardii influences antibiotic therapy by counteracting the colonization of antibiotic-resistant pathogenic microflora . ”

2. Anti-Candida
Bowllady, which survives even in such an extreme environment, is known to be excellent in inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria . Accordingly, hospitals often prescribe it as an antibiotic to improve the side effects of patients receiving antibiotic treatment .
However, the action of bouladi is not limited to improving gut health. Typically, bouladi contributes to general health through its ability to inhibit Candida bacteria. Candida is a major causative agent of vaginosis, a harmful bacterium that travels throughout the body through the bloodstream, causing skin diseases and gastroesophageal reflux disease .
The 2009 FEMS Yeast Research report on the anti-Candida mechanism of Bowladi as follows.
“ The ability of Saccharomyces bouladi extract to control major Candida virulence factors is (omitted) very significant and can be applied in treatment for Candida-induced infections. ”

3. Anti-inflammatory
Additionally, boulardi has been shown to play an important role in the body's immune system.
A paper published in FEMS (Federation of European Microbiological Societies) in 2010 revealed that Saccharomyces boulardii had anti-inflammatory action by regulating cytokines secreted by immune cells .
“ Our study suggests that Saccharomyces bouladi (omitted) reduces cytokine-mediated inflammatory host responses. "

Today we looked at Boulderdi. It is very safe and has various benefits, but due to the nature of yeast, those who have extremely low immunity, or those who have taken steroids or immunosuppressants for a long time , should be careful about intake.
Also, unlike lactic acid bacteria, bowllady cannot settle in the intestines and live, so continuous intake is recommended. If you are worried about not seeing the effects of the lactic acid bacteria you have been eating , how about choosing a lactobacillus containing Bowladi?
I hope you have a healthy body and mind. More than that, it was Jinny.
