Why are people tired?

Many people think of fatigue as 'because of the liver. However, people with liver diseases such as hepatitis B or C are less than 5% of the population. If you are tired, you should check two things first. First, whether you have a disease, and second, whether you are physically overworked. Many different diseases cause fatigue, such as anemia, hypothyroidism, and liver disease, but they are usually screened out in a blood test. If you are tired because of a disease, you can treat the disease.

If you are suffering from physical exhaustion

If you are suffering from physical overwork, we recommend a multivitamin that contains all the B vitamins.  In addition to vitamin B1 (thiamine), known as an anti-fatigue vitamin, various B vitamins, such as vitamin B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), and B6 (pyridoxine), are involved in energy metabolism. The reason why multivitamins are recommended is that various minerals and trace elements such as magnesium are involved in energy metabolism in addition to the B vitamins. If you suffer from fatigue due to temporary overwork in the absence of a disease, you can see the effect only with a multivitamin containing B vitamins.

If you get sleepy in the afternoon

If you are a person who is very sleepy and tired after lunch, try taking another vitamin B preparation after lunch.  If you are an examinee or a person who has to work overtime, it is good to take a multivitamin after dinner. However, if you have insomnia, you should be careful about taking B vitamins after 9 pm. This is because there are cases in which you cannot sleep well as your eyes become sluggish due to increased energy due to an increase in metabolism. However, if you have a late-night drinking party and have to wake up early the next morning, and if you do not have insomnia, it is better to take a multivitamin and go to sleep even if it is late at night. Waking up the next day is much easier.

If a multivitamin containing B vitamins does not sufficiently reduce fatigue, vitamin C may help. Take 1-2 tablets of 1,000 mg after meals. When I wake up in the morning and have to work late into the night, I take 1,000mg of vitamin C, 2 tablets every 5-6 hours, several times a day. There are a few things to note. Eating too much vitamin C in an hour or two can cause stomach aches and watery stools, which can be embarrassing at an important meeting. Therefore, it should be taken at regular intervals. If taking vitamin C on an empty stomach causes stomach upset, you can take a neutral vitamin C.

If you are over 40, consider adding coenzyme Q10.

If you are over 40 years of age, taking B vitamins, multivitamins, and vitamin C does not relieve fatigue enough, it is also recommended to take an additional 100 mg of coenzyme Q10. Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant, but also a coenzyme that plays an important role in energy production. Therefore, coenzyme Q10 is helpful for people who often suffer from fatigue after middle age.
