[Zinc Efficacy] Why is zinc important for collagen synthesis?

Introducing an unexpected combination of collagen and 'this'

Zinc Efficacy
1. Reduction of collagen degradation
2. Bone formation through collagen synthesis
3. Improves Inflammatory Acne
Hello. This is pharmacist Jinny.
Not long ago, I introduced you to three vitamins that work synergistically with collagen. “I didn’t know that vitamins A, C, and E were helpful for collagen synthesis,” said a lot of people.

So, today, I would like to explain another essential nutrient, zinc , that not only has good synergy with collagen, but can also help skin in many ways  .

1. Inhibit collagen breakdown
What did you usually think of zinc? Normal people can think of it as a nutrient that is not enough to eat. Scholars have considered zinc as an essential trace element for life since the early 20th century. Because zinc is  involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA and acts on cell division, it is essential for the human body to maintain normal functions such as growth, reproduction, and immune function.
A 1981 study published in Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics already found that  zinc treatment reduced collagen breakdown during wound healing .
"It could be explained that the rate of collagen degradation in granulation tissue is decreased by zinc administration."

Reference paper: Tengrup I, Ahonen J, Zederfeldt B (1981). Influence of zinc on synthesis and the accumulation of collagen in early granulation tissue. Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, 152(3), 323-326.
2. Bone formation through collagen synthesis
Did you know that collagen is not only found in the skin, but also in tissues such as bones, cartilage, and ligaments? Therefore, orthopedic surgeons inject collagen and use it to regenerate damaged tissues and reduce pain. Therefore, collagen synthesis is very important for the production of these tissues. It can be seen that
In 2010, Nutrition research and practice  published a paper demonstrating that zinc contributes to bone formation by stimulating collagen synthesis .
"These findings suggest that zinc may increase osteogenic effects by stimulating cell proliferation, ALP activity, and collagen synthesis in osteoblasts."

3. Improves Inflammatory Acne
Each person has different skin concerns depending on their innate conditions. Some people are worried because their skin is not bright or lack of elasticity, while others may be worried about constantly rising acne. However, acne is different from other skin concerns in that it is an obvious 'disease' that can lead to extreme phobias and depression in severe cases.

This is good news for those who are suffering from acne. As academic reports accumulating that zinc has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and sebum production-reducing effects, Dermatology published a study using zinc to treat inflammatory acne in 2001

" Minocycline (a type of tetracycline antibiotic) and zinc gluconate are both effective in treating inflammatory acne. "
Reference papers: Dreno B, Moyse D, Alirezai M, Amblad P, Auffret N, Beylot C, Bodokh I, Chivot M, Daniel F, Humbert P, Meynadier J, Poli F (2001). Acne Research and Study Group. Multicenter randomized comparative double-blind controlled clinical trial of the safety and efficacy of zinc gluconate versus minocycline hydrochloride in the treatment of inflammatory acne vulgaris. Dermatology, 203(2),135-40.
Above, we have looked at the many benefits of zinc that have been proven in papers. It is important to know that it is important to consume essential nutrients such as zinc not to be deficient in order to maintain the normal function of our body beyond skin health.
I hope you have a healthy body and mind. More than that, it was Jinny.
